Christmas Events in New Mexico
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. As you get ready to celebrate the holidays with your friends and family at home, there are several Christmas events happening around your homes in NM perfect for celebrating the season.
Roswell Christmas Railway
Take the perfect ride this Christmas at the Roswell Christmas at the Roswell Zoo (Spring River Park & Zoo, 1306 E College Boulevard) in Roswell. Journey through beautiful scenes of light and magic to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at St. Nicholas Station. There will be more than 100,000 amazing lights, the opportunity to take phots with Santa Claus, plenty of entertainment, food, playing, shopping, and so much more. Roswell Christmas Railway is going on now through Sunday, December 31st from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Roswell Christmas Railway is free for children two years of age and younger, and priced $8 for children three to 14 and $12 for adults. Hobbs Family Fun Day
Christmas Family Fun Day is a free event happening on Saturday, December 9th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Western Heritage Museum (1 Thunderbird Circle) in Hobbs. Come out to hear Christmas carolers, visit the arts and crafts stations to make handmade crafts, Bonnie Moran’s North Pole Village, cookie decorating corner, “Letters to Santa” writing corner, classic Christmas movies screening in the theatre, and see more than 40 decorated Christmas trees. Alamogordo Parade of Lights “Home for the Holidays”
Come out to the annual Alamogordo Parade of Lights event. This year’s theme is “Home for the Holidays” and this event will take place on Saturday, December 9th at 5 p.m. at 10th Street from Oregon to New York Avenue. For more details please visit here. See you there!
Christmas on the Plaza
Christmas on the Plaza is back for the second year in a row. Hosted by 103.9 KGRT, HOT 103.1, Classic Rock 98.7 and KOOL Oldies 104.5, this event is free and will take place on Sunday, December 17th from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Plaza de Las Cruces (100 N. Main Street) in Las Cruces. There will be plenty of vendors inside the Christmas Bazaar for you to do your shopping and your kid can take a ride on the Moose Caboose. And get ready to say cheese because you can take photos with Santa and the Grinch. This is a kid-friendly event so bring the entire family out and your neighbors to enjoy a fun-filled time just in time for the holiday season. To learn more click here.
This event will be held on Wednesday, December 20th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Plaza de Las Cruces (100 N. Main Street) in Las Cruces. Presented by Food Truck Fiesta, DLCP Events, Leave It Local, Las Cruces, and Bravo Mic, this kid-friendly event will feature 11 food trucks, an array of vendors perfect for any last minute shopping you may have, special kid pricing for shopping, an opportunity to take a picture for free with Santa in exchange for canned goods, flashlights, gloves, and sock donations. A canned food drive, flashlight, glove, and sock collection will take place with everything collected to benefit Mesilla Valley Community of Hope, entertainment, etc. Winterfest 2017 is a fantastic family-friendly event to attend.
